“Moira is about balance and fairness to all people in Shrewsbury whether they are homeowners, business owners, children, parents, or our elderly. She recognizes all perspectives, from those who have lived here all their lives to those who are new to town. Vote May 3rd

In my three terms on the Board, I’ve enjoyed serving the residents of Shrewsbury, including four years as Chair, and I'd be privileged to continue to work in partnership with the community to ensure that Shrewsbury remains a safe, pleasant place to live and work for current and future generations.

More than ever, residents are looking for elected leaders to exercise good judgment and common sense. Using the valuable experience and budget knowledge I've gained on the Board, I'll work to maintain a stable financial position so that, as the economy recovers, we can move forward with feasible, sustainable options to keep up public buildings, maintain public safety and parks and roads, and continue to deliver quality municipal and education services to the community.

I’ve worked hard to be an effective member of the Board spearheading the creation of fiscal policies and desired outcomes to set strategic direction and budget priorities.  I've been highly accessible, accountable and responsive to residents’ concerns, created the Citizen’s Guide to the Budget and sought ways to improve public participation, solicit ideas, and keep citizens informed.

I'd be honored to serve a fourth term, working to provide quality services to our citizens and good value to taxpayers by:

  • Taking a practical, reasoned approach to balance the needs of all our citizens, working to protect the core services of public safety, education, and infrastructure without devastating the Senior Center, library and other services that are important to the quality of life in our community.

  • Using my extensive experience in Human Resources and municipal government to help recruit and hire the next Town Manager when the current manager retires in 2018.  Hiring the "right person" will require carefully considering where our community is going and what is needed in the short- and long-term  to ensure financial stability while encouraging economic growth.

  • Continuing to support projects to position Shrewsbury favorably for business development such as the Lakeway Business District, White City Shopping Center makeover, reuse of the Glavin Center property and road, water and sewer improvements to encourage development efforts at CenTech North, CenTech East and the Town Center.

  • Ensuring that public buildings and grounds are maintained in a safe, cost-effective, and environmentally sound manner, such as the new Sherwood school completed under time, under budget.

  • Advocating for a local-state-federal partnership to address underfunded mandated programs.  This list grows every year, restricting local budget flexibility and jeopardizing our ability to maintain quality education, public safety and infrastructure services in our community

Your contribution will help raise the funds needed to launch my campaign and purchase the necessary signs, mailings, and advertising.  As the campaign progresses, I’ll also need lots of help placing signs, writing endorsements, and spreading the word.

Thank you in advance for your encouragement and your support.
